Ages (5 and Up). As a young boy prepares for his school assignment on the Ernest Shackleton and his expedition to Antartica, a snowstorm hits and strands him and his 'crew' at home. The young boy logs his adventures at home as if he were really Captain Shackleton. With a mystery on our hands, we must find out who is stealing from the Captain, with the assumption it is the scallywag (the little brother).  Dionne and Ebbler portray the perfect snow day adventure.  Based on Dionne own snowstorm experience this story was initially posted on Facebook before it became the ideal storytime book.  At the end, the reader is given the opportunity to learn more about the actual Shackleton by reading the young boys report.

On the first endpage, we see a little red-haired girl who we later find out is named Mia, Mia is counting and jumping through puddles calling out to her sister. In typical little sister fashion, Mia follows her sister Lucy EVERYWHERE! Lucy feels as if her little sister is an annoying little monster and tells her to get lost. When her wish comes true, and real monsters want to keep Mia, Lucy gets monstrous too! With vivid colors spreading from each corner of the book, Fotheringham really showcases the love and nuisance of having a younger sibling. Through Rosenbaum's dialogue, the reader is shown how grateful they should be to having a younger sibling. Highly recommended for older siblings who need to be gently reminded that, it's not always so bad having a little sibling.
