The illustrations as well, connect the two cultures creating a bright and colorful addition to the story.  This book would be a great storytime book, to showcase the diversity, the basic Spanish text embedded into the English text is easy to understand through context clues that help to translate.

On the first endpage, we see a little red-haired girl who we later find out is named Mia, Mia is counting and jumping through puddles calling out to her sister. In typical little sister fashion, Mia follows her sister Lucy EVERYWHERE! Lucy feels as if her little sister is an annoying little monster and tells her to get lost. When her wish comes true, and real monsters want to keep Mia, Lucy gets monstrous too! With vivid colors spreading from each corner of the book, Fotheringham really showcases the love and nuisance of having a younger sibling. Through Rosenbaum's dialogue, the reader is shown how grateful they should be to having a younger sibling. Highly recommended for older siblings who need to be gently reminded that, it's not always so bad having a little sibling.
