Toddlers (12-36 months). In this classic, the reader is introducing their youngest child to colors and animals. Leaving a lot of room for imagination, the simple illustrations match with what the previous animal saw. The repetition of the lines leading up to the next animal, help children to anticipate upcoming events. In classic Eric Carle style the animals, are paint brushed with a multitude of shades of the primary color. At the end of the book, the reader is also shown, diverse children. As the book has been transcribed from a full-size story to a pocket-sized story, this board book is sturdy and perfect for little hands.

On the first endpage, we see a little red-haired girl who we later find out is named Mia, Mia is counting and jumping through puddles calling out to her sister. In typical little sister fashion, Mia follows her sister Lucy EVERYWHERE! Lucy feels as if her little sister is an annoying little monster and tells her to get lost. When her wish comes true, and real monsters want to keep Mia, Lucy gets monstrous too! With vivid colors spreading from each corner of the book, Fotheringham really showcases the love and nuisance of having a younger sibling. Through Rosenbaum's dialogue, the reader is shown how grateful they should be to having a younger sibling. Highly recommended for older siblings who need to be gently reminded that, it's not always so bad having a little sibling.
